KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Maula Bakhsh Chandio said Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had been working on an agenda to worsen the political condition in the country.
Chandio alleged that the interior minister had been criticizing the Sindh government by launching attacks against the leadership of the Peoples Party. He urged the federal minister to stop interfering in provincial matters. “Instead, it is the Sindh province alone that is witnessing the implementation of the National Action Plan while the Rangers have the privilege over the province”, said Chandio.
Senator Rehman Malik said in a statement that Nisar’s involvement in the provincial government system may lead to problems in the federal system. “Federal government should stop playing politics over extending the Ranger’s special powers in Sindh. Rather, they should think about calling Punjab Rangers”, he said.
On the other hand, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) senior leader Nadeem Nusrat argued over the government’s decision for extending Rangers’ special powers for only Karachi city and not the whole province. He said, “Rangers have been targeted by terrorist activities not only in Karachi but also in different areas of Sindh, the law and order situation in the whole province is not in a good state therefore, rangers should have been given powers over the entire province.”
Nadeem added that Sindh government is working on the agenda to carry out operation only against MQM, if they want Rangers to exercise their power then they must allow them to work in the whole Sindh province.
